Course introduction:
This five-day course focuses on developing the business-related skills of an animal massage therapist.  Topics such as veterinary ethics, scope of practice, and client expectation management are highlights.  Other issues such as insurance, the legal implication of a medical record, small business accounting and marketing provide business tools to both the newly established business as well as long-existing practices.

The curriculum is designed to equip the student to interact with other members of the veterinary medical team, establish a business presence, and identify and expand into niche markets.

Curriculum:
New subject material is presented in lecture format.  Opportunities to hone skills or develop further practice protocols are encouraged by daily practical skill workshops.
Workshops allow for multimodal, kinesthetic learning utilizing group work, hands-on practice with mannequins, stuffed dogs, and supervised interaction with live animals.

Required textbook: None

Evaluation & Testing:
Students must PASS a written evaluation to successfully complete the classroom portion of this class.
