Massage is a therapeutic modality and, in its therapeutic capacity, should only be practiced by trained and certified practitioners.
The Colorado School of Animal Massage provides a Community Series for training pet parents in basic massage routines that can be practiced safely at home. However, the skills taught in our Community Series are only intended for pet parents to provide massage to their own animals at home.
Our Practitioner and Professional Series are certified and regulated by the Colorado Department of Private Occupational Schools.
To practice as an animal massage therapist in Colorado, students must complete the following:
- Practitioner 01 - Introduction to Animal Massage Therapy
- Practitioner 02 - Body Mechanics & Practical Physiology
Only a basic massage certification (PRACT01 & PRACT02) is required to practice animal massage professionally in Colorado. NBCAAM certification is not required. However, we encourage all of our students to attempt NBCAAM certification.
